FAQ

Preparation & Environment

1.What temperature is required for installing HioNiko® PPF?

Recommended installation temperature is 15–30 °C (59–86 °F). Lower temperatures reduce adhesive activation, while excessive heat accelerates drying and makes positioning difficult.

2.Do stone chips or paint damage need to be repaired before installing HioNiko® PPF?

Yes. Paint chips, scratches, and exposed metal should be repaired before installation. PPF preserves the existing paint condition and does not hide damage, so proper touch-up or repainting ensures the best visual result and long-term protection.

3.Can HioNiko® PPF be installed outdoors?

Indoor installation is strongly recommended. Dust, wind, and sunlight increase contamination risk and reduce installation quality.

4.Do I need to polish the vehicle before installing PPF?

Paint correction is recommended if defects are present. PPF preserves the existing paint condition and does not hide scratches or swirl marks.

5.Can PPF be installed on freshly repainted surfaces?

No. Fresh paint must cure fully for at least 30 days before installing PPF to ensure proper adhesion.

6.How clean must the surface be before installation?

The surface must be completely free of dirt, oils, wax, and residue. Even microscopic contamination can affect adhesion and visual clarity.

Installation & Application

1.What is slip solution and why is it used?

Slip solution temporarily neutralizes the adhesive, allowing precise positioning of the film before final adhesion.

2.What is IPA solution used for during installation?

IPA solution removes slip residue and activates adhesive bonding in critical areas such as edges and corners.

3.Can HioNiko® PPF be repositioned during installation?

Yes. While slip solution is present, the film can be repositioned safely. Once IPA is applied and squeegeed, repositioning is limited.

4.Do I need heat during installation?

Heat improves film flexibility and allows proper conforming on curves, edges, and complex surfaces.

5.Is edge primer required?

Edge primer is recommended for high-stress areas, aggressive curves, and exposed edges to ensure maximum adhesion.

6.How long does installation take?

Partial installations take 1–3 hours. Full vehicle installations typically require 1–2 days depending on complexity.

Aftercare & Removal

1.How long does HioNiko® PPF take to fully cure?

Initial bonding occurs immediately, but full adhesive curing typically requires 24 hours.

2.When can the vehicle be washed after installation?

Wait at least 24 hours before washing the vehicle to allow proper adhesive bonding.

3.Does HioNiko® PPF self-heal?

Yes. Minor surface marks disappear when exposed to heat such as sunlight or warm water.

4.How long does HioNiko® PPF last?

With proper care, HioNiko® provides long-term protection and maintains optical clarity for many years. HioNiko® PPF is backed by a 10-year warranty, ensuring reliable performance, durability, and long-term paint protection under normal use conditions. When professionally installed and properly maintained, removing HioNiko® PPF even after 10 years reveals paint preserved in its original condition, maintaining the vehicle's appearance as if it were new.

5.Can HioNiko® PPF be safely removed?

Yes. When removed correctly, the film does not damage factory paint.

6.Will HioNiko® PPF damage original paint?

No. HioNiko® PPF protects the paint and preserves its original condition.
